The Wilson Garden police on Friday arrested a Rapido Bike Taxi Rider for allegedly attempting to grab a woman passenger’s legs during a ride.
The incident came to light after the victim recorded the act on her mobile phone and posted the video on social media before filing a police complaint.
The accused has been identified as Lokesh (28),a resident of Muniyappa Layout in Ullala.
Senior officer told reporters that the complainant stated that around 4 pm.on Thursday,she had booked a Rapido ride from Church Street to her Paying Guest accommodation.
During the journey,the rider allegedly touched her legs inappropriately while riding.
Shocked by the sudden act,the woman recorded the incident on her phone but did not ask the rider to stop midway as she was new to the city and unaware of the route.
Police officials said they tracked down the accused after verifying his details with the Rapido platform.
The Wilson Garden police,social media monitoring team who came across the viral video online,reached out to the victim,obtained a written complaint,and registered an FIR before arresting Lokesh.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain if the accused was involved in similar offences.
