A 40-year-old domestic help was stabbed to death by her lover after she insisted on getting married.
The incident took place near a government school in Pillanna Garden under the KG Halli police limits on Friday evening.
The deceased has been identified as Renuka (40),a resident of Pillanna Garden.
The accused,Kutti (43), who worked in a finance firm and lived in KG Halli, has been taken into police custody.
Senior officer said Renuka,who was divorced,had been in a relationship with Kutti, a married man.The two had known each other for a while as they lived in nearby localities, and their friendship eventually turned intimate.
However,when Renuka began pressuring Kutti to marry her, saying she no longer wanted a secret affair,Kutti reportedly opposed the idea.
On Friday,as Renuka was returning home from work, Kutti called her to meet near the government school, claiming he wanted to talk.
During the confrontation,Kutti allegedly attacked Renuka in public,stabbing her multiple times before fleeing the spot.
Passers-by rushed the severely injured woman to Ambedkar Hospital,but she succumbed to her injuries .
The KG Halli police have registered a case of murder and are questioning Kutti to ascertain the motive behind the murder.
