A 20-year-old engineering student was stabbed to death by his friend for exposing a theft .
The deceased identified as Rahul GD,noticed the missing gold chain in his friend Preetham’s bag and informed her about it .
Senior officer said,Rahul,a resident of Chunchaghatta and a student 5th semester Computer Science at private college.He was friend’s with Preetham (19),who works as an office boy in a private company.The duo are close and used to visit each others house on regular basis .
Probe revealed that,Preetham had stolen gold chain from his mother with a plan to buy a new bike.When his mother started searching for the gold chain and asked Preethan,he in order to escape her,told her ask Rahul since he used to visit the house regularly .
When Leela,mother of Preetham confronted Rahul,he denied the allegations .
On October 25,Rahul reportedly informed Preetham’s mother about the gold chain he saw in Preetham’s bag . Enraged Preetham had a heated argument with Rahul and stabbed him multiple times with a blade in a fit of rage and fled the scene.
Passers-by found Rahul bleeding with multiple injuries, rushed him to a nearby private hospital where he succumbed later .
Based on a complaint,Konanakunte police have registered a case of murder and arrested Preetham for further questioning.
During the questioning police recovered the gold chain and found that it is not even expensive,a police officer , said .
