Panic gripped among the residents of Devara Beesanahalli in Marathahalli after they caught a 45-year-old man from different community walked into temple shouting slogans and created chaos inside the Venugopalswamy Temple on Tuesday .
Passers-by noticed the accused later identified as Kabir entered the temple wearing slippers,stormed into the sanctum sanctorum,and pulled the idol,committing an act of desecration.
According to eyewitnesses,the accused,identified as Kabir,runs a footwear repair shop in Devara Beesanahalli.
Moments before the temple incident,he was seen near a medical shop,shouting religious slogans and striking a photo of Lord Ganesha kept there with a stick.
When locals confronted him,he ran toward the near-by Venugopalaswamy Temple,shouting slogans and creating a ruckus.
He allegedly entered the sanctum wearing slippers, carrying a small bottle containing oil-like liquid,and attempted to pull the idol down.
Shocked by his behaviour,temple staff and residents rushed and caught hold of Kabir,tied him to a roadside tree and thrashed black and blue before he was handed over to the police .
The accused,who sustained minor injuries,has been admitted to a private hospital for treatment.
The Marathahalli Police visited the spot and seized a pair of slippers,stones,and the oil bottle from the accused.
Police said a detailed inquiry will be conducted after the accused is discharged from the hospital.
Local residents accused Kabir as migrant labourer from Bengladesh,who are creating menace in and around the area.The residents demanded action from the police to contain such activities and take strict action.
In another incident,the Jigani police have registered a Non cognizable complaint against an Unknown person for using Pro Pak slogan in his WiFi ID.
Based on the complaint filed by a resident identified as Govardhan Singh,a Bajrang Dal activist,approached the police with a screenshot of a Wi-Fi username named ‘Pakistan Zindabad’ went viral on Tuesday .
According to the police,the incident was reported from Kallubalu village in Jigani.The complainant,while checking available Wi-Fi networks to access the internet, found a Wi-Fi connection named ‘Pakistan Zindabad’.
