A gang of six bike-borne assailants opened fire at a Grama Panchayat member in an attempt to kill him over old rivalry in the outskirts of Bengaluru on Sunday evening.
The victim,Saleem Pasha,50,a member of Kannegowdanahalli GP and a resident of Islampura, sustained gun shot injuries on his right arm after he dodged the attack.He was taken to hospital for treatment and said to be out of danger.
The incident occurred at around 6.30 pm,Pasha was sitting outside the shop chatting to people on 7th cross in Islampura.
The Nelamangala Rural police have registered a case and launched an investigation to identify the assailants.
We suspect that it was political rivalry which led to the attack.assailants used country made weapon to carry out the attack.
We have some clues and working on it to track down the accused,a senior police officer,said .
