Officials of the air intelligence unit in the airport busted another international wild life smuggling racket and caught a man carrying one silver gibbon and two black shanked Douc concealed in check in baggage from Bangkok to Bengaluru on Thursday night.
The accused identified as Ranitha Rajan R was caught while walking towards exit point with the bagpack when the officials based on specific inputs pinned him down .
Upon checking the baggage the rescued a silver gibbon and black shanked Douc while the third black shanked Douc was found dead due to suffocation.
The accused confessed that he is a ting as mule to carry wildlife and handed over to the person waiting for him at the exit gate of the airport.
The accused had been booked under customs act and also violations of licensing condition,permit and required certificate from the Directorate General of Foreign Trade.
The accused has also risked the life of other passengers on board as these animal or any love stock is not allowed to fly without quarantine certificate from the Animal Quarantine & Certification Service department.
The rescued animals have been sent back to Bangkok after the due process while the dead animal will be disposed as per the protocol sources in the department, said.
The official said that the a cjaed passenger was offered cash,free travel and stay in Bangkok for few days in returns of carrying smuggled goods.
