The Hebbagodi police have arrested a 25-year-old electrician who killed his wife,accusing her of having affair and made it look like the death was due to electric shock on Wednesday.
However the statement from the step daughter led the police to suspect foul play which they later corroborated with the post mortem,led to the arrest .
Based on the evidence,the police arrested Prashanth Kumar,25,an electrician and a resident of Maragondanahalli in Anekal,on the charges of killing , Reshma,32.
Senior officer told reporters that on October 15, Reshma’s daughter from her first marriage had found her lying unconscious in the bathroom.She and a few other neighbours took Reshma to the hospital,where the doctors declared her dead.
“When the deceased’s husband was questioned,he stated that while he was at home,his wife went to take a bath and had placed an electric heating rod in the bucket of water,and that she might have died due to an electric shock,”the deceased husband said in a statement.
Reshma’s daughter later revealed to the complainant, who is the sibling of the deceased,that her step father Kumar was quarrelling with her mother,suspecting that she was speaking to another man constantly .
On the fateful day when she returned home from school around 5.00 pm,the gate and the front door were open and the bathroom latch was locked from the outside.
When she opened the door,she found her mother lying unconscious in the bathroom,”the statement to the police,stated .
Suspecting something fishy the complainant then approached the police,and a murder case was registered.
On October 16,the suspect was arrested near Hosur Main Road.During interrogation,he confessed that he had suspected his wife of having another relationship and,in a fit of rage,assaulted her and strangled her to death.
To conceal the crime,the accused dragged the body in the bathroom and switched on the water heater probe revealed that the deceased was married earlier and had a child.
But her first husband died due to illness within a year of their marriage.About nine months ago,Reshma had met Kumar from Huvina Hadagali taluk through Instagram and got married him.
