Six months after the death of 29-year-old city based dermatologist,The Marathahalli police have arrested her husband,a surgeon on the charges of murdering her by injecting controlled anaesthetic agent restricted to operation-theatre use, in multiple organs in a bid to kill her and made it look like natural death .
However the meticulous investigations of the SOCO and FSL team based on the complaint filed by family members,zeroed in on Dr.Mahendra Reddy,GS,a general surgeon,and arrested him from Udupi on Tuesday.
According to the complaint filed by father of the deceased,the incident took place on April 21,where Dr. Kruthika Reddy,reportedly fell ill and was taken to a nearby hospital by her husband,where she was declared brought dead.
Based on the medical legal case and statements filed by the family members,the Marathahalli police have registered a case of unnatural death for further investigations.
As part of the investigations,the Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO)visited the house and recovered evidence, including a cannula set,injection tube,and other medical items.
These items were handed over to investigators for forensic analysis.The Viscera samples were collected and sent to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) to determine the cause of death.
The FSL report later confirmed the presence of Propofol, a powerful anaesthetic drug,in the victim’s organs, indicating a criminal act.
Based on this report,the victim’s father K.Munireddy has filed a complaint on October 13,alleging that his son-in-law had murdered his daughter using the anaesthetic drug .
The couple got married on May 26 last year in a gala function and both were both were working at Victoria Hospital.
In his complaint,Mr.Munireddy alleged that ever since marriage the accused was not taking care of his wife and allegedly administered drugs on the pretext of treating her and neglecting her after the in laws turned down his demand for the money to construct a private hospital for him.
The In-laws cited that they could not afford such a big amount and later helped him to set up a clinic at Munekolala where the couple were planning for private practice .
On April 24,the accused administered medicine and put IV canola and administered drugs multiple times to treat her for gastric problem,despite the victim repeatedly requesting him to remove the canola,unable to put up the pain.
The victim fell unconscious the next day and rushed to a private hospital where the doctors declared her as brought dead.
The accused refused to get the Post-Mortem even after the victim’s family filed a complaint with the jurisdictional police .
The accused being a doctor did not even performed CPR at home when noticed the victim was unconscious and not responding to the treatment,Mr.Reddy alleged .
The family who conducted a background check found that the accused family not only has criminal cases pending against them,but also the accused had an affair with a girl and harassing his wife .
The accused has been booked under murder and taken into custody to ascertain the exact motive behind the murder.
