Three arrested for robbing Tamilnadu PSI and wife at knife point on Bengaluru-Mysuru highway

The Channapattana rural police have arrested a gang of three men for robbing a police sub-inspector (PSI) from Tamilnadu on the Bengaluru-Mysuru national highway at knife point on last Tuesday .

The victim,PJ Shaji,hailed from Puthukuli village in Nilgiris and worked as a special sub-inspector in Cherambadi police station was on his way to Bengaluru with his wife to pick up his elder son,who had finished an undergraduate course.

At around 1.45 am,Shaji stopped his car near Channapatna for a quick rest stop and a brief nap.

Suddenly,the three suspects entered the scene on their two-wheeler and threatened Shaji and his family and at knifepoint.

The accused robbed two mobile phones, Rs.10,000 in cash and a gold chain weighing 16 grams and fled the scene .

Based on the complaint,the Channapatna Rural police registered a case of robbery and track down the accused identified as Syed Tanveer,30,from Channapatna.Fairoz Pasha,28,from Ramanagara,and Tanveer Pasha,32,from Gejjalagudde.

The police recovered two mobile phones,the weapon used in the offence and their two-wheeler for further investigation.
