The Jayanagar police have registered an FIR against a three people for allegedly attacking a man for objected to cutting a roadside tree near his house.
The incident occurred on October 9 at 1.30 pm pm when the victim,Sathish Reddy, 49,related to former BBMP councillor was at his house in Jayanagar,6th Block.
He saw the suspects cutting a tall,strong tree near his home,the FIR noted.
Mr.Reddy stepped outside and questioned them and was allegedly abused by the suspects.Then Ganesh Singh,claimed to be social activist and associate of BJP leader NR Ramesh,arrived at the spot and with his helmet attacked Reddy following heated argument.
Reddy’s son rush to his father’s rescue was also attacked .
The victims later raised the complaint with the forest department and stopped the tree cutting,before approaching the police.
Based on the complaint,the police booked the trio under BNS Sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt),118 (voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means),351 (criminal intimidation)and 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace).
Earlier,Mr.Ganesh also filed a complaint against the father and son for assaulting him over trivial row .
According to him,Mr.Singh had obtained permission to prune the tree based on the help slight by two residents, complaining that the tree as it was causing them some health issues due to worms.
Ganesh claimed that he had informed the forest department to trim only the dangerous branches.He alleged that Reddy and his son objected to the pruning and assaulted him with a helmet and a cane.
The police have summoned the accused for questioning for further investigation.
