The city police as part of its Social Media Monitoring Cells (SMMCs) initiative registered a total of 37 cases since the begining of this year,arrested 18 persons and taken down 41 social media accounts along with 19 objectionable posts shared by the accused from various social media platforms.
The police in all police stations across Bengaluru are actively monitoring social media platforms for posts that spread communal hatred,false news,defamatory,or provocative content that could disturb public harmony.
During this course of action several provocative posts were identified,and accordingly,cases have been registered and legal action has been taken against those involved.
Members of the general public have been requested not to endorse, support,or share such posts that may disrupt social harmony.
Before commenting on or forwarding any information on social media,people should verify the authenticity and truthfulness of such content.
The police warned strict legal action against those found violating the law.
