Dismissed constable arrested by Ijoor police for posing as Lokayukta DYSP,extorting officials in Bengaluru

The Ijoor police of Ramanagara district on Saturday arrested a 55-year-old former Lokayukta staff who used to threaten and extort money from government officials, posing as Lokayukta sleuth .

Based on a complaint filed by Child development planning officer from Magadi,a team of police track down the accused identified as Murugeppa,charging him with extortion and impersonation.

Senior officer told reporters that the accused Murugeppa,was a police constable with the Lokayukta, dismissed from service for his corrupt practices .

Making use of the expertise he had during his tenure, Murugeppa started extortion racket and obtained a list of officials to call them posing as Deputy Superintendent of Police .

He would call the gullible officials threaten them to conduct raid on them and later extort money.

Probe reveal that he had as many as 46 extortion cases registered across the state pending against him.The police have seized three mobile phones and nine SIMs which he had obtained from different companies with fake documents to use it for the extortion racket .
