A phone-in programme was held today at 11:00 AM by Bengaluru North City Corporation Commissioner, Pommala Sunil Kumar,at the North City Corporation Control Room located on Amruthahalli Main Road, Byatarayanapura.
*Priority Action to Control Stray Dog Menace:
During the programme,several complaints were received from the public regarding the increasing stray dog menace,especially in areas like Nagavara Kuppeswamy Layout,T.Dasarahalli, and behind Garuda Mall in Yelahanka New Town.
Taking note of the seriousness of the issue,the Commissioner directed the Animal Husbandry Officers present to immediately identify aggressive stray dogs, provide appropriate treatment,and take precautionary measures to prevent inconvenience to the public.
*Removal of Dangerous Trees and Branches:
Many citizens raised concerns about dangerous trees and overhanging branches posing safety risks.
Responding to these,the Commissioner instructed Forest Department officials present at the event to initiate prompt action to remove such hazards and prevent potential accidents.
*Pothole Filling and Road Repairs to be Fast-Tracked:
Complaints regarding potholes and damaged roads were also heard.The Commissioner assured that the city corporation has already begun day-and-night pothole filling drives.
He instructed engineering officials to further expedite the process and ensure quality while addressing road repairs.
*Key Grievances Received During the Phone-In Programme:
1. Road asphalting.
2. Pothole-related issues.
3. Road repairs.
4. Road cuts by BESCOM/BWSSB.
5. Road widening.
6. Drainage clogging.
7. Unauthorized parking near city corporation swimming pools.
8. E-Khata issues.
9. Clearance of construction debris.
10. Inefficient door-to-door waste collection.
11. Lack of cleanliness on roads.
12. Water logging on roads.
13. Transformer removal.
14. Park maintenance.
15. Playground maintenance.
16. Installation/repair/maintenance of streetlights.
17. Littering and black spots on road sides.
18. Encroachments on lakes and stormwater drains.
19. Unlawful activities in vacant plots of Attur and HMT Layouts.
20. Encroachment of footpaths by hawkers and need for footpath repairs.
21. Non-installation of Cauvery water pipelines.
22. Traffic congestion issues.
23. Lack of hygiene in hotels.
Unauthorized/illegal constructions.
A total of 53 calls were attended during today’s Phone-In programme.All complaints have been registered on the Help Portal and forwarded to the concerned departments for timely action.
To ensure swift redressal of public grievances and regular review of ongoing developmental activities within city corporation limits,the Commissioner will continue to conduct the Phone-In programme every Friday.
Necessary follow-up and legal action will be initiated based on the complaints received.
The event was attended by Joint Commissioner,Dr. Mamatha,Executive Engineers,Assistant Executive Engineers and officials from Forest,Animal Husbandry, Health, and Solid Waste Management departments, among others.
