Make Panathur,Balagere,Vibgyor School Road,Gear School Road,Jayantinagar,and Arakere Lake Roads Motorable at the Earliest–D.S.Ramesh

Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner, D.S. Ramesh,convened a coordination meeting today with officials from all engineering divisions of the city corporation,as well as representatives from BESCOM, KPTCL,BWSSB, GAIL,Railways,and the Police Department.

Addressing the meeting, the Commissioner highlighted that the lack of basic infrastructure within East City Corporation of Bengaluru has led to national-level embarrassment.

He stated that the Chief Minister has issued strict instructions to complete all pending road and pothole-related works within the next 15 days.

The Commissioner directed the nodal officers of the concerned departments to urgently prioritize and complete the following road works across city corporation limits:

*Panathur Road:

The 1 km stretch from Kadubeesanahalli Arch to the railway underpass has had water and UGD pipeline works completed by BWSSB.However, household connections remain pending.

The Commissioner instructed BWSSB to complete the remaining works within two days and directed the Roads and Infrastructure Department to expedite the completion of road restoration on Panathur Road.

*Balagere Road:

The 4 km stretch of Balagere Road,excavated by KPTCL, has not been properly restored.Road sections have started caving in due to poor restoration work.

The Commissioner directed both KPTCL and the Roads and Infrastructure Department to ensure the entire road is restored and made suitable for vehicular movement within one week.

*Vibgyor School Road:

On the 1.5 km Vibgyor School Road, BWSSB has completed pipeline installation works.Water leakage testing has been done 100%, and the Commissioner instructed officials to issue the NOC (No Objection Certificate) immediately. He also directed that the road work be completed within two days.

*Gear School Road:

Of the total 4.5 km stretch, most of the road work on Gear School Road has already been undertaken.The Commissioner instructed that the remaining 1.5 km stretch be taken up within three days and completed without delay.

*Jayantinagar Road:

In the KR Puram division, four spots along Jayantinagar Road still require restoration by BWSSB.The Commissioner instructed the concerned department to address these immediately and directed the officials of Roads and Infrastructure Division to prioritize and complete the roadwork.

*Agara Lake Road:

On Agara Lake Road, BWSSB is currently installing UGD pipelines along a 20-meter stretch.The Commissioner directed both BWSSB and the City Corporation’s Roads and Infrastructure Department to complete the work within five days.

*Use of ‘Astram’ App for Pothole Resolution:

The Commissioner instructed the relevant departments to prioritize pothole complaints reported via the ‘Astram’ mobile app by the Traffic Police Department.He also directed that complaints registered on the ‘Fix My Street’ app be addressed swiftly and effectively.

*Expediting Major Stormwater Drain Works:

In Pai Layout,Sai Layout,and Panathur areas, stormwater drain works are ongoing beneath railway tracks.The Commissioner instructed officials to accelerate these projects and ensure timely completion.

*Departmental Nodal Officers to Take Responsibility:

Bengaluru East City Corporation comprises 8 engineering divisions.Henceforth, Executive Engineers will act as nodal officers for each division.

Similarly, nodal officers from KPTCL,BWSSB, GAIL,Railways, and the Police Department will coordinate with the city corporation’s respective divisional engineers and ACP-level police officials.

These officers will be responsible for ensuring coordinated implementation of road works,pedestrian encroachment removals,intensive cleaning,and demolition of unauthorized constructions.

The Commissioner emphasized that the lack of coordination among various government departments is causing unnecessary inconvenience to the public.

To address this,departments such as BESCOM,KPTCL, BWSSB,GAIL,Railways,and the Police must work in close coordination with the city corporation to ensure timely completion of civic works across city corporation limits.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner (Development) Snehal Sudhakar Lokhande,Chief Engineers,Lokesh and Krishnamurthy,Executive Engineers,and officials from BESCOM,KPTCL,BWSSB, Railways, and the Police Department.
