Bengaluru East City Corporation Commissioner D.S. Ramesh has directed officials to expedite the completion of ongoing retaining wall construction works for stormwater drains in Balagere,Belthur,and Ramamurthy Nagar under the city corporation limits.
He instructed officials to clear silt from stormwater drains to ensure smooth flow of water through the SWD.
The Commissioner further instructed officials to identify and remove encroachments on stormwater drains by verifying their original dimensions,thereby restoring them to their intended capacity.
*Road Pothole Repair Works:
Asphalting and white-topping works are currently in progress on several key roads including VIBGYOR School Road (near Vaswani Apartments),near GEAR School Road,and Balagere Road.
Commissioner Ramesh also informed that potholes identified by Bengaluru Traffic Police and reported through the ‘Fix My Street’ app are being actively addressed in Ramamurthy Nagar,Horamavu,Whitefield, Kaikondrahalli,Basavanapura,Vaddarapalya Main Road, Nagenahalli,and other areas.
*Footpath Encroachment Clearance Drive:
Under the directive of the Commissioner,the Mahadevapura Division Executive Engineer led a pedestrian pathway encroachment clearance drive today from Singayyanapalya Metro Station to Garudacharpalya Metro Station.
During the operation,officials removed temporary tin sheet extensions, street-side stalls, advertisement hoardings,and banners in front of commercial establishments,making the pathways accessible to pedestrians.
The Commissioner stated that such clearance operations will be carried out regularly across Mahadevapura Division and appealed to the public to cooperate with city corporation staff and avoid re-encroaching cleared footpaths.
*Sanitation and Beautification Works:
Intensive cleanliness drives were conducted in several areas of the city corporation,including Kaikondrahalli Lake, Varthur Lake, Panathur Lake,Bhairathi Park, Challaghatta Crematorium,Basavanapura School, Nallurhalli,and areas surrounding Ambedkar Nagar. Clean-up activities were also carried out at the skywalk near Doddanekkundi.
Commissioner stated that identified black spots are being beautified,and public awareness banners have been installed to discourage littering in these locations.
