The Bagalagunte police have arrested a 22-year-old man on the charges of strangulating his 53-year-old father along with his elder brother and his friend at their house on September 3.
An autopsy revealed that the death was due to strangulation, leading police to arrest Praveen Reddy, the friend of the prime suspect Manoj, who is still at large.
Investigations showed that on September 3,Manoj,a class 10 dropout and unemployed, called his mother—who was out with her younger son—and told her that his father, Manjunath,a carpenter from Dasarahalli, had died by suicide.
Based on the Post-mortem report, the police zeroed in on Manoj who was last seen with Manjunath when he was alive. However Manoj sensing trouble escaped .
The police set a massive manhunt for him and while checking his call record details on the suspicion that there might be more people involved in the murder, they stumbled upon Praveen Reddy who was constantly in touch with Manoj before and after the murder .
Based on the inputs, the police picked up Praveen Reddy who not only confessed about the murder but also revealed the name of Abhishek, younger son of Manjunath.
The trio had hatched the murder plan at a bar and restaurant after couple of drinks and decided that Manoj and Praveen should execute the murder. While Abhishek had to create an alibi .
As per the plan,Abhishek accompanied his mother to consult a doctor for a general check up leaving Manjunath alone at home .
Taking advantage of the situation,Manoj and Praveen barged into the house overpowered Manjunath and strangled him to death and created a scene that his father had committed suicide .
