The Rajajinagar police on Monday arrested a 40-year-old KRS activist also a garment factory worker for misbehaving with a woman Police Sub Inspector and later harassing them on social media .
The accused has been identified as Selva kumar a KRS activist.
Based on the complaint,the police track down Selvakumar,charging him under section 79 (word,sound, gesture,or act intended to insult a woman’s modesty or intrude upon her privacy)and section 132 (assaulting or using criminal force against a public servant to prevent them from lawfully discharging their duty) of BNS.He was arrested and remanded to judicial custody.
A team of traffic police headed by PSI,Parvathi Bai were on duty to check visible violations and drunk driving cases on Dr.Rajkumar Road on Saturday.
The police at around 10 pm stopped Selvakumar who was riding bike without helmet and talking on the phone .
Heated arguments ensued when the police asked him about the documents for verification.He questioned them for stopping him and demanded to show them the order for the vehicle checks .
The police asked him the DL and he showed the photo on his mobile phone and it was not even in Digi locker .
When asked him to get the documents,he started video recording the event and refused to hand over the keys when the police went to seize the bike as per the rule .
The accused even refused to pay the fine and demanded notice so that he can pay the fine .
The accused created ruckus and started video recording the police officials shouting and accusing them of corrupt practices “.
The police tried to reason with him but he was furious and said that he is the member of KRS (Karnataka Rashtra Samithi )Party and will escalate the issue .
The accused later uploaded the video on the KRS Party Official FB page which went viral followed by abusive and derogatory comments against the police and the women police officer in particular.
Reacting to the incident senior officer said we will not tolerate such things it may be any party or activist they should abide by the law and those who have commented very badly using unparamilitary words and harassed the Woman Police Sub Inspector of Rajajinagar traffic police station will be dealt with stringent and massive hunt is on to nab the anti social elements he added .
