Gang of four men posing as government officials robbed Rs.1.5 crore cash and gold valuables from house of professor in Yelahanaka

A Gang of four men posing as government officials robbed ₹ 1.5 crore cash and gold valuables from the house of a professor in Yelahanaka on Tuesday.

The accused came in a car with fake registration number plate barged into the house of Mr.Giriraj and ransacked the house on the pretext of searching for cash and escaped with the bag containing Rs.1.5 crore kept in the kitchen .

Mr.Giriraj,a professor at a private university had brought the cash to purchase a land and had gone out to work, the police,said .

The accused threatened wife and parents asking about Giriraj and also asked about the cash and escaped with the bag.

The incident came to light when wife called Giriraju and narrated the incident before alerting the police .

Based on the complaint,the police rushed to the spot and verified the CCTV footage to identify the accused .

The accused have used fake number plates for the car . The police have formed a special team to track down the accused.

Police suspect that the accused got to know about the cash of Mr.Giriraj had got and further investigating to ascertain the hand of insiders in the incident .
