The Malleswaram police on Saturday arrested a gang of five for attacking a man over a trivial row.
The incident occurred a few hours before Bengaluru police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh went on surprise city rounds as part of the special drive to keep a check on anti social elements and their activities in the city limits.
The accused according to the police had a grudge with the victim identified as Mohammed Javed and assaulted him with lethal weapons over a trivial row which broke out at the Tea stall in Malleshwaram 4th cross.
Tension prevailed for sometime as accused armed with lethal weapons attacked Javed,chased him with armed in their hand when he tried to escape .
Based on the complaint the police rushed to the spot and arrested the accused identified as Afzal Khan (36), Syed Wasim (26), Junaid (22), Syed Hafiz (24) and Salim Pasha (37) — were at the Star Tea Shop on 4th Main Road,Malleswaram.
The attack was due to some personal issues and the grudge the accused and victim had against each other, a police officer,said .
The accused have been booked under section 115 (voluntarily causing hurt )118 (Voluntarily causing hurt or grievous hurt by dangerous weapons or means) 126 ( Wrongful Restraint) 109 (attempt to murder) 191 (causing hurt or grievous hurt with the purpose of extorting property or coercing someone into an illegal act) of BNS and also under Arms Act ,
A little after 10 pm,Commissioner Singh began his night rounds for the first time after he assumed the role of city police chief.
Officers above the rank of Police Sub-Inspector (PSI) took part in the special drive across the city in 11 Divisions.
A day earlier,another large-scale raid was conducted on rowdies in the city by all Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCPs) in Bengaluru and the officers from the Central Crime Branch (CCB),police have arrested rowdies and habitual offenders who have violated bail condition and also few caught consuming drugs .
