12-year-old cyclist mowed down by speeding tipper lorry in Bengaluru; Biker hits road hump,dies

A 12-year-old boy was killed on the spot when a speeding truck knocked down his bicycle and ran over him on Sannakki Bayalu road in Kamakshipalya on Monday.

The deceased Shashank,a class 7 student,had come from school and excited about the new cycle which his grand father had gifted.He picked up the cycle and went to his friend’s house to call him to play.

But the grand mother of his friend refused to send him along,so Shashank went alone to cycle around.While moving on the Sannakki bayalu road,a few meters away from his house,a speeding truck knock down the cycle.

Shashank lost control and came under the rare wheel of the truck and crushed to death.The truck driver abandoned the truck and fled the scene .

Shashank was living with his parents and sister and grand father his father is working in a garment factory . Shashank used to pester his father to get him a cycle but he refused him stating that he would get him after 10th standard.

However his grand father who had a lamb,sold it and got him cycle.Shashank after returning from school was surprised with a cycle and took it out for a ride .

The Kamakshipalya traffic police have registered a case of hit and run,death due to negligence and also rash and negligent driving against the driver and efforts to track him down.
