A 45-year-old autorickshaw driver and his daughter were killed and a couple and ther minor child escaped narrowly when a speeding truck lost control and run over series of vehicles at the busy Sumanahalli junction on Saturday morning.
The deceased Yesu D,and his daughter Mariya Jennifer r, 24,resident of Harohalli were heading to church for paying their gratitude after Jennifer got engaged recently .
According to the police,Yesu’s wife supposed to join them but could not accompany them as she did not get off from work .
The truck heading from industrial area,lost control due to suspected brake failure and plough into a bike,
Autorickshaw and a car moving at the junction.
The impact of the accident was so high that the autorickshaw was mangled killing Yesu and Jennifer on the spot .
The car driven by Vijay,a private firm employee heading to hospital with his pregnant wife and three-year-old child for a routine check up.
He moved the car to the extreme left and escaped narrowly.While the car and a bike completely damaged the family was saved .
Passers-by rushed to the victim’s help and the driver sensing trouble escaped.The Kamakshipalya traffic police rushed to the spot and seized the truck and registered a case of death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against the driver for further investigations.
In another incident a 45-year-old woman pedestrian was killed when a speeding truck ran over her on cottonpete mill road in Chamarajapete traffic police station limits on Friday.
The deceased Anjana Devi walking with her friend on the narrowly lane when the speeding truck came behind and run over her.
While Anjanadevi came under the truck,m her friend narrowly escaped unhurt.The while incident was captured on the CCTV cameras installed near-by.
The Chamarajpet polic rushed to the spot, and arrested the driver identified as Kiran for further investigation.
