The Kodigenahalli police in Tumakuru district have arrested a Gram Panchayat member for allegedly mowing down a villager with his jeep in broad daylight at Polenahalli bus stand after a trivial row on Wednesday .
The deceased,Anand ,42,a private firm employee had a tiff with the Ramakrishna, water bill collector after the latter confronted him and questioned for overflowing of overhead tank and wasting water during his routine work .
Neighbours pacified the duo and after Ramakrishna left the place,Anand,reportedly followed him and confronted Ramakrishna and argued with accusing Ramakrishna’s high handedness .
When Nagesh,son of Ramskrishna and Gram Panchayath member who was way reached the spot driving the jeep and mowed down Anand,killing him on the spot .
Based on the complaint from an eye witness and relative of Anand,the police charged Nagesh under murder and arrested him.
Family relatives and community of Anand protested demanding legal action against Ramakrishna and his wife for instigating the murder .
The villagers said that the accused and the deceased belongs to different caste and had differences since ages which led to the murder .
The villagers also demanded the home minister to ensure strict action against the accused since it is also amounts to caste discrimination and hatred which is privelent in the home minister home constituency .
Superintendent of Police,KV Ashok,who visited the spot and supervising the investigation said that necessary action will be taken if their role is established during the course of investigation.
