*Campaign to Transform 5–6 KM of Footpaths Around Majestic into Model Pedestrian Walkways:
Bengaluru Central City Corporation Commissioner, Rajendra Cholan, participated today in a cleanliness drive along the footpaths near Majestic, joining hands with volunteers to clean and beautify the area.
Wearing an apron, gloves, and a face mask, the Commissioner actively took part in the cleanup – sweeping the streets, removing posters from walls, painting decorative sheets with a brush, and later joining others in sitting on the cleaned footpath to share refreshments.
*Join Hands for a Clean and Beautiful City:
Creating clean,pedestrian-friendly walkways for citizens is a key priority of both the State Government and the City Corporation.
However, this goal can only be achieved with active citizen participation.Despite the presence of public toilets in the Majestic area, many citizens and commuters still urinate along the roadsides, leading to the deterioration of pedestrian pathways.
Maintaining cleanliness is essential, and citizens must act responsibly to prevent such issues.
*Quick Response to Civic Issues:
As per the government’s initiative of forming the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA),five city corporations have been established.

Following these directives, officers are visiting affected areas, inspecting problems, and ensuring timely resolutions.

Plans are in motion to completely transform the 5–6 km stretch of footpaths around Majestic. In collaboration with officials, citizens, and NGOs,unauthorized encroachments will be cleared, unhygienic areas will be cleaned thoroughly, public urination will be curbed, saplings will be planted, and the area will be converted into an attractive and model pedestrian zone.
*Instruction to Plant Saplings Along Footpaths:
Officials have been directed to plant saplings or place well-maintained plant pots in vacant spaces along the pedestrian walkways.
*Seating Facilities for Citizens:
To enhance the appeal of the area, instructions were given to arrange seating along the footpaths.Over 50 volunteers participated in the initiative, using 40 liters of paint to decorate sheets and enhance the surroundings.
*Response to Social Media Concerns by Foreign Influencer:
Two days ago, foreign influencer Caleb shared videos on social media highlighting the poor condition of the footpaths near Majestic.
Commissioner Rajendra Cholan took this matter seriously and immediately instructed officials to undertake a cleaning drive.
Accordingly, officials from the Gandhinagar division conducted a thorough cleaning yesterday using jetting machines and bleaching powder to remove unpleasant odors.Today, the same location has been transformed into an attractive pedestrian area.
