The Basaveshwaranagar police on Saturday arrested a police constable attached to Special Action force on the charges of rape and cheating a city based advocate on the pretext of marriage .
Based on the complaint,the police arrested the accused identified as Siddegowda,who is serving in SAF in Pandesharwara in Mangaluru and remanded him to the judicial custody.
The accused according to the complaint met the victim through a common friend at a marriage function at Bagalakote last year.
The duo exchanged numbers and used to chat on whatsapp before Siddegowda came to Bengaluru in October last year and stayed in a lodge at Basaveshwara Nagar.
He invited the victim to his room and had a physical relationship after proposed to marry.The duo met couple of times and the couple had relationship.In May this year the victim confronted him and asked about the marriage .
Enraged Siddegowda abused her verbally and slapped her and even threatened her with dire consequences .
The accused according to the complaint refused to marry citing she is from lower caste and asked her to leave him alone .
Shocked by this behaviour the victim tried to convince him over the mobile chats before approaching the police with the evidence .
