The Madanyakanahalli police on Thursday arrested a gang of three habitual offenders who were involved in armed robbery of a Jewellery shop situated in Machohalli main road July 25.
The accused identified as Mohammed Rafiq, Mohammed Ifteqhar,and Ramshad,hailing from Udupi, Mangaluru and Odisha were habitual offenders involved in over two dozen of criminal cases across the state .
The accused along with another associate,wearing mask barged into Ram Jewellers threatened the staff at gunpoint,and escaped with the gold valuables .
The owner was preparing to shut the shop for the day, the masked robbers barged in,brandishing their firearms, and started looting the ornaments on the display table, and escaped in a car which was parked near-by.
Based on the complaint,filed by the owner of the shop,a special team has been formed who trailed the accused across the state,before zeroing in on them.
The fourth accused in the case is on the run and efforts are on to track him dowm,the police,said.
