The team behind Lokah Chapter 1:Chandra has issued a public apology and promised corrective action after a dialogue in the film drew sharp criticism for its portrayal of women from Bengaluru.
Dulquer Salmaan, producer and head of Wayfarer Films, confirmed that the line would be removed from the movie following backlash in Karnataka.
In a statement released on Tuesday,the production house acknowledged the concerns raised by audiences.
“It has come to our attention that a dialogue delivered by one of the characters in our film Lokah:Chapter One has unintentionally hurt the sentiments of people from Karnataka,” the note said.
The newly released Malayalam film Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra which raked up controversy on social media for allegedly promoting “anti-Hindu propaganda for certain scenes depict Hinduism negatively,has now been accused of portraying “Bengaluru city”as hub of parties and drugs and demeaning the girls of Bengaluru.
Taking a strong objections people on social media demanding certain dialogues and scenes to be removed .
Replying to the quarry on this issue,city police commissioner Seemant Kumar Singh on Tuesday said that the social media monitoring cell of the CCB will look into the issue and take necessary action if there is any violations .
One of the social media user, ManSORe,from Kolar who is also kannada film art director termed the incident as unfortunate in his account stating
“According to movies like Kannada Bhima, Malayalam films Officer on Duty, Avesham, and now Lokah,Bengaluru is being portrayed as the capital of drugs and crime.Once upon a time,it was represented in movies as a beautiful town,has come to such a state due to uncontrolled migration”.
