The Kothanur police cracked a theft case and arrested a Bcom student and her three friends for stealing gold valuables worth Rs.65 lakh from her uncle’s house to fund for Goa trip and fund investment for her male friend in May this year .
The accused Sachitha was staying in her uncle’s house to pursue her studies and stole the valuables in May to give to her male friend and classmate,identified as Yeshwanth.The duo was studying in a private college pursuing Bachelor of commerce .
After receiving the valuables Yeshwanth gave it to his friends Tanush and Ramprakash to dispose and get the money .
The accused melted some of the gold valuables and sold it to party in Goa and the part of the money Yeshwanth made investment as part of his future plans.
The theft came to light in June when Srinivas,owner of the house on June 9,noticed the valuables missing and suspecting the role of domestic help,he filed a complaint.
The police based on the complaint,questioned the domestic help before confronting Sachitha.A detailed questioning led her to confess .
Based on the confession, the police arrested Yeshwanth and two of his friends and recovered the valuables.
Srinivas,when came to know about this,requested the police not to pursue the case fearing family stigma.The prime accused have ben produced before the court and granted bail while the two others have been remanded to judicial custody
