Gang of armed men hacked Former Gram Panchayat member to death over property dispute accused arrested by Sathanoor police

A 45-year-old former Gram Panchayat member was hacked to death by a gang of armed men over a property dispute on Kanakupura road in Sathanoor police station limits on Saturday Night.

The incident occurred when the deceased Nanjesh,was having dinner at a roadside eatery with his friends .

The assailants barged into the hotel and attacked Nanjesh,and fled the scene, while his friends and other guests ran helter-skelter to save themselves .

According to the police,Nanjesh,a resident of Honnaganidoddi village and former member of the Achalu Gram Panchayat in Kanakapura taluk.

A senior police officer said that around 8.30 pm,Nanjesh was consuming alcohol with friends near a roadside eatery on Kanakapura Road,when a group of four to five armed men barged in and attacked him with lethal weapons before fleeing the spot.

Few people rushed him to a nearby hospital before alerting the police where he succumbed to his injuries later .

The Sathnoor police have registered a case of murder, and two of the accused were detained on Sunday.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Nanjesh had been involved in a quarrel over a property dispute just four days before the murder.

The accused are being questioned,and further investigations are underway to track down the accused who are on the run.
