In a significant step toward fostering innovation and research in emerging technologies,Union Minister of Communications,Jyotiraditya Scindia inaugurated the “VTU VRIF-TCOE Hub and Spoke of Excellence”at the regional office of Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Bengaluru.
Addressing the gathering,Minister Scindia emphasized the importance of startups that solve real-world problems and contribute to India’s development.“We are on the brink of a 6G revolution.
The number of broadband users has grown from 60 million to 940 million in just over a decade.This center will be a catalyst for the next wave of technological advancement,”he said.
The center is a collaborative initiative between VTU, the Visvesvaraya Research and Innovation Foundation (VRIF), and the Telecom Center of Excellence (TCOE) India.
It aims to serve as a national innovation hub, leveraging VTU’s vast academic network of over 210 engineering colleges, 20,000+ PhD holders, and 400,000+ graduates and postgraduates.
Dr.Sharan Prakash Patil,Minister for Skill Development and Livelihood, highlighted the center’s role in building capacity for future technologies.
“This 1 lakh sq. ft.facility will support research in 5G,6G, AI, ML,AR/VR,quantum computing,healthcare,and more,” he said.
Dr. S.Vidyashankar,Vice-Chancellor of VTU, added,“Our university is committed to creating a vibrant learning environment.This new research center will enable startups and provide all necessary facilities to support innovation.”
