The Lokayukta police on Wednesday booked Assistant Executive Engineer and two others for illegally selling a Karnataka Housing Board (KHB) site for a price of Rs.10 crore situated in Yelahanka New Town,causing huge loss to the state exchequer .
The accused Syed Asghar,AEE with KHB (Yelahanka New Town) was arrested Govindaiah and Harini Satish from T Dasarahalli,charging them under PC act and also under section 409 (criminal breach of trust by a public servant),420 (cheating ) and 468 (forgery for the purpose of cheating) of IPC..
According to the Lokayukta police,Asghar sold “KHB site 271 ‘A’ Sector site measuring 50.5 x 80 ft to Govindaiah and Harini,causing wrongful loss to the government ”.
The suspects have been issued notices to appear for inquiry,a senior officer said.The role of a third suspect is yet to be established.
On Wednesday,Lokayukta police launched raids at the KHB’s Yelahanka New Town office and the residences of Asghar and Govindaiah.Officials said that the searches yielded documents and their photocopies related to the site.
The case was registered under relevant sections of the Prevention of Corruption Act, according to the Lokayukta.
