Bike racer turned Serial Chain Snatcher involved in over 180 cases since decade arrested by Girinagar police recovered stolen valuables worth Rs.52.8 Lakhs

The Girinagar police have arrested a 37-year-old bike racer turned serial chain snatcher involved in over 180 cases since the last one decade .

The accused Achuth Kumar Gani,native of Koliwada in Hubballi was caught red handed in Dsouza Nagar in Hosakerehalli while he was moving suspiciously looking for the target .

A PU drop out,Gani took to crime to get money for his vices like gambling in casino,drinking and spending lavish life.

He is a good bike rider and claimed to have participated in National bike racing.

The accused target senior citizens moving alone and rob their gold valuables,Using the MO on June 16,the accused attacked a home maker while she was plucking flowers from a flower plant in her compound.

The accused approached her on the pretext of inquiring an address snatched her 50 gram gold chain and sped away. Due to the impact the victim fell on the ground and sustained head injury.

Based on the complaint,the police registered a case of robbery and identify the accused from a CCTV recovered from in and around.

A message has been sent to the staff to look for the accused having particular physical features .

With his arrest the police have cracked 10 chain snatching reported in and around the city in the last six months and a house breaking theft in Koul bazaar in Ballari district and recovered 541 grams of gold valuables and a bike worth ₹ 52.8 lakh from him.
