The Madiwala police track down a 48-year-old habitual offender involved in over 133 house break theft cases in and around the city since the last eight years.
With the arrest of the accused identified as Prakash Balaji,the police have detected as many as 13 cases reported in Southeast Division alone.
The police have also recovered valuables worth Rs.75 lakh and a bike he used to commit the offence .
Senior officer told reporters that Balaji used to move around the area wearing delivery boy uniform to avoid undue attention.
After identifying the houses he would make a duplicate key from the key machine he owned to gain entry.
Team headed by MA Mohammed,Inspector Madiwala,who track down the accused, and during investigation it was revealed that the accused had purchased the key making machine online and learnt the art of making duplicate keys by watching YouTube videos .
Based on a house break theft complaint reported in Venkatapura in Koramangala on May 25,the police team analysed over 150 CCTV footage before identifying the accused .
The accused was trained in the prison and never used mobile phones and always on the move.However with the help of his database in crime portal the police kept a watch on his relatives to zero in on the accused .
The accused told the police that he is addicted to gambling and alcohol and told the police that he would gamble inside the prison while he was lodged in the Parappana Agrahara prison after CCB arrested in last year in similar case.
The lost money in the gambling the accused had paid to the inmates relatives and family as per the deal after he was released and committed the offences,officer,said .
