As many as five persons were killed and three others injured when a car they were travelling over tuned after losing control in a bid to overtake a truck in the outskirts of Doddaballapur on Tuesday morning.
The deceased have been identified as Eshwarappa,75, Kalappa,69,Purushotham,62,Narasimhamurthy,50,driver of the car and Gopinath,52.
The injured Kumara,Nagappa and Shivaram were critically wounded and were admitted to a private hospital for treatment .
Senior officer told reporters that the victims are residents of Karenahalli and part of morning walk friends group .
The victims were heading to visit a temple in Bheemeshwara betta and hired a cab.The incident occurred when the Narasimhamurthy driving the car in rash and negligent manner tried to overtake a truck moving ahead near Makalidurga.
The driver noticed the bus coming from opposite directions and lost control.
The car slipped off road and rolled around eight times before coming to the halt .
While Eshwarappa Kalappa,Purushotham and Narasimhamurthy killed on the spot,Gopinath succumbed to his injuries at the hospital .
The Doddaballapura police rushed to the spot and registered a case of death due to negligence and rash and negligent driving against the car driver for further investigation.
