Days after central govt.Okeyed the suspension of three IPS officers,the Central Administrative tribunal on Tuesday ordered the suspension of a senior IPS officer in Bengaluru to be set aside as quashing.
Dhanush Menon,the counsel on record for Inspector General of Police (IGP) Vikash Kumar Vikash,and the then additional commissioner of police West,who is among the three IPS officers suspended following the stampede in the city at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on June 4 that killed 11 people and injured dozens.
At the time,Vikash was the Additional Commissioner of Police (West),Bengaluru City,and in charge of security at the stadium.
“The Tribunal has set aside the suspension based on the illegalities that we projected and directed the plaintiff to be reinstated to his original position,”Menon said.
Apart from Vikash,the government had also suspended then Bengaluru city police commissioner,B Dayananda, Shekhar H Tekkannavar,Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central),C Balakrishna,Assistant Commissioner of Police,Cubbon Park sub-division,and A K Girish,Police Inspector,Cubbon Park police station.
The order also stated that the government should consider the suspension period as working days .
