“Even if said jokingly,Dr Parameshwara has spoken the truth— he deserves appreciation”
The state government has sunk deep into corruption and has lost all sense of direction, causing public frustration.
Home Minister,Dr Parameshwara, even if jokingly, has spoken the truth by stating that Chief Minister Siddaramaiah has no funds and he needs to be congratulated for that, said former Chief Minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai.
Speaking to the media here on Wednesday,he said Dr. Parameshwara had publicly disclosed that the CM didn’t have money.
Though he later clarified that it was said in jest,it still remains the truth. For that,he should be congratulated.
When asked about ruling party MLAs making allegations against their own government, the former CM said it has been two and a half years since the Congress came to power in the state and MLAs haven’t received any grants due to which they are unable to work.
If this continues,it will be impossible to face the public in the next two and a half years. The government has no funds. Corruption exists in everything—in every stage, every metric, and even to get a work order.
Because of the Congress’s mismanagement, people are forced to spend their hard-earned money to fuel corruption.
Bommai said the smart meters that once cost Rs. 500–600 are now priced at Rs 6000–7000.And the government is not bearing the cost—it is being collected from the public. They are indulging in corruption using the money taken from the people.
The government hasn’t released Rs 750 crore of milk subsidy meant for farmers. They’ve asked milk federations to increase the price of milk, thus passing the burden onto consumers.
In the excise department, higher taxes have been imposed on cheap liquor consumed by the poor.Excise dealers have protested,so have contractors from PWD and the electricity department.Yet the government hasn’t uttered a word.
He said when in opposition, the Congress leaders had raised a huge ruckus against corruption. Now,the whole government is drowned in corruption and has lost its direction.People are fed up.
Double Standards:
He said Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Minister H.K. Patil has written a letter to the Chief Minister regarding illegal mining investigations.Since he is a minister in Siddaramaiah’s cabinet,he could have conveyed it directly.
Was the CM not willing to listen to him? Instead, he wrote an open letter like someone from the opposition. The central government had enacted a law to auction mines, and even before that, the state government had begun the auction process.
Earlier, during our term,Patil had opposed land being given to Jindal. But once he came to power,he himself approved the land for Jindal. Why these double standards?he questioned.
Politically Motivated:
The MP said the corruption allegations made against his government during their term were politically motivated. He had asked them to submit documents, but no one did. Now, the same contractors’ association has leveled allegations against the current government.
MLA B.R.Patil making allegations against the government is not new.He has done it three times before. At that time, to pacify him,he was made the Vice Chairman of the Planning Board. Now, to pacify him again, he might be offered a cabinet berth,Bommai remarked.
Protest by BJP:
He said they will meet, discuss, and launch protests against the state government by highlighting problems in different regions.
Asked about former CM B.S.Yediyurappa’s re-entry into active politics,he said Yediyurappa is BJP’s senior leader and his involvement boosts their morale.
He is a great leader, and every time he toured, the party came to power. He has voluntarily returned to strengthen the party’s organization, and his presence adds strength to the BJP.”
Admit mistake for clamping Emergency:
When asked about Dt Parameshwara’s statement on the 50th anniversary of the Emergency, in which he said BJP is going backwards instead of progressing,Bommai said Parameshwara uses anything that benefits him politically.
He refers to the past regarding Rahul Gandhi and Mallikarjun Kharge, and makes arguments based on convenience.
But the Emergency was a huge blow to democracy. If it had continued, neither we nor Parameshwara would be here today. He must admit that what happened during the Emergency was a grave mistake.
