Elderly couple ends life in Bengaluru after being sent to old age home by son

An elderly couple found dead at the old age home where they were living in Kembathalli in JP Nagar 9th phase in Thalaghattapura on Tuesday.

The deceased have been identified as Krishna Murthy, 81 and wife K Radha,74.The couple are living in the home for the last three years .

Senior officer said the incident occurred when staff of old age home noticed the couple hanging separately and alerted the family and the son of the couple .

Probe revealed that the couple were staying in a separate room at the Kamalamma Ramakrishnappa Trust Shubhodaya Old Age Home.

The staff told the police that the couple had an argument while watching television on Monday night.

We police suspect that the argument might be the possible reason behind their extreme step.

The police suspect that one of them must have first committed suicide by hanging and the other after seeing the body.No death notes were found at the scene of crime.

“The couple’s son Vijay,an IT professional,filed a complaint seeking detailed probe .

Vijay’s his wife had a problem with the aged couple over domestic row following which the couple had asked their son to keep them in a separate house.

Murthy and Radha were earlier staying at another old age home in Byatarayanapura in 2021 and later taken back by son to his house.

As the aged couple continued having differences with their daughter-in-law,they were again kept at the Kamalamma Ramakrishnappa Trust old age home from 2023,”said an officer.

The bodies were sent to KIMS Hospital’s mortuary for the postmortem.Further investigations are on.
