West Zone Police Conduct Raids On 25 Dance Bars In Bengaluru found breaching rules in special operation

Despite ban on live band continue to run unabated in the city and women artiste made to dance before customers under the garb of bar tenders .

Violating the court ruling bars and pubs should only employ women as bar tenders but force them to dress indecently and dance in front of customers to lure them.

Though the women employee are bound to follow rules laid down by HC,no women employee follow the rules and defy the court order.

Based on credible information received by the city police that several bars and restaurants in the West zone of the city were illegally employing female servers and engaging in unlawful activities as many as 11 special police teams were formed in the West zone.

A special raid was conducted on bars and restaurants falling under the jurisdictions of Upparpet,Cottonpet,Kalasipalya,Cubbon Park and Ashoknagar Police Stations.

During the raid,it was found that 19 bars and restaurants were violating regulations by employing female workers who were provocatively dressed and standing
near customers’ tables in an indecent manner.

Further violations observed included
absence of appointed female security guards,Lack of cleanliness in kitchen areas.

Not designating or maintaining a proper smoking zone and operating beyond permitted hours.

Customers who violated COTPA (Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act) regulations were fined on the spot. Reports have been submitted to the respective police stations for further legal action against the owners of the bars and restaurants.

Another significant finding was that violations were not limited to police regulations but also extended to health and excise departments.

These findings have been communicated to the concerned departments,requesting appropriate action.

Strict monitoring will continue for these commercial establishments in the coming days.If found violating regulations again,their licenses will be canceled.

This special raid operation was conducted under the guidance of C.Vamsi krishna,Joint Commissioner of Police,West Zone,and under the leadership,S.Girish,DCP, West Division,with the involvement of officers and staff from the Central and West Divisions.

FIRs have been booked against the owners of the bar and summoned them for questioning.

The raids and gross violations of HC rules also exposed the lack of monitoring on these pubs by local police.

The local intelligence units have been assigned to monitor the violations and report to their seniors .
