City police commissioner,Seemanth Kumar Singh had asked the women force to join the mainstream policing rather than opting for soft jobs .
In a motivation workshop held at Commissioner office on Friday involving all the women DCPs and women personnel from PSI rank and above to discuss and address challenges faced by women personnel during field duty—ranging from workplace conflicts to safety and infrastructure concerns.
Majority of the women force prefer soft jobs rather than field work citing gender biased and other reasons .
Senior officials present at the meeting motivated them to take up crime investigation job,maintaining law and order and helping women in distress .
The other main concern raised by the women officials that they lack facilities seeking creche facilities for their toddlers at the divisional level and lack of basic facilities like rest rooms and waiting rooms while they are on the ground.
There are good facilities provided including the necessary facilities for the women force who are on duty .
The workshop was to motive them to take up the job to show that they are trained and capable,of,a senior police officials part of the meeting,said .
The meeting was also discussed about safety of women and children and the SOP to be carried out during any eventualities .
How to handle the situations and create awareness about the facility and help provided by the city police under safe city and Nirbhaya project.
The women police force have been asked to create awareness campaign at the private and government sectors at their division level to inform the working women about the safety programs provided to them and how they can avail the service .
