Former Minister whatsapp account hacked by scammers to gain unauthorised access

Former Minister R Roshan Baig has filed a complaint with the East Division cyber crime police that his whatsapp account has been hacked to gain unauthorised access on Thursday.

Based on the complaint the police have registered an FIR against unknown person charging him under section 66 C (Identity Theft) of IT Act for further investigation.

In his complaint,Mr.Baig,said that he noticed that his whatsapp account was compromised and messages have been sent to his contacts requesting money transfers and also asked to shar suspicious links.

“These messages were not sent by me and appear to be part of a scam I have already informed my contacts not to respond to these messages and to ignore any suspicious requests from my number”,

He said in his complaint,adding that he was concerned about the misuse of identity and the potential financial or reputational harm it may cause to others.

He further requested the cyber crime police to investigate and help secure my account at the earliest .
