The Marathahalli police have arrested a 36-year-old domestic help for stealing gold from her father’s house while the family has gone to the religious trip.
The owner of the house,R Raju,resident of Yamaluru,had gone to Kashi with his family in March 27 and returned home.
He found that the door lock was intact but the 258 grams of gold valuables worth Rs.21 lakh kept in the wardrobe was missing .
Following the complaint,the police going by the nature of theft the police questioned Raju who expressed doubt over his daughter,sister and nephew who are aware of their trip and the valuables at home.
The police summoned Shobha and a detailed inquiry led them to confess to the crime .
Based on the confession,the police have recovered 30 grams of gold valuables which she has pawned at a jewel shop in Marathahalli and the rest of the valuables from her house in Kondappa layout in Kaggadasapura.
The accused confessed that he had committed the theft as she is in urgent need of money and investigations are on to ascertain the exact cause of theft.
