An 82-year-old woman was bludgeoned to death by her alcoholic son after she refused to pay him money in Bagalagunte on Thursday night.
The deceased Shantha Bai was living with her son mahendra singh at the house in Muneshwara nagar.
Mahendra Singh was alcoholic and unemployed used to harass his mother for money and fight when she refused.
On Thursday after the fight he assaulted her with an iron rod.She sustained head injuries and killed on the spot following which mahendra fled the scene.
The neighbours rushed to the help and alerted the police who visited the spot and registered a case of murder based on the complaint filed by the daughter of the deceased.
The daughter was married and living separately with her family.
The police within a few hours of the crime track down the accused and taken into custody for further investigation.
