New Delhi: On the occasion of World Radio Day and marking its second anniversary, Ram Lal Anand Mahavidyalaya’s community radio station, Tarang 90.0 FM, celebrated with great enthusiasm. The event was graced by esteemed personalities, including renowned radio RJ Rocky, former Deputy Director of Akashvani Lakshmi Shankar Bajpai, and General Secretary of the Newspaper Association of India, Dr. Vipin Gaur, who attended as chief guests. The program commenced with the screening of a special documentary showcasing the journey of Radio Tarang.
Dr. Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Principal of the college, extended his congratulations to students and faculty on the station’s successful two-year journey. He announced that from the next academic session, new skill development courses related to radio will be introduced, further enhancing employment opportunities for students. Additionally, the college will establish a Media Skill Center, open to all Delhi University students, offering various specialized courses.
Chief guest RJ Rocky emphasized the importance of continuous learning and pronunciation practice for aspiring radio jockeys. He noted that career opportunities in the radio industry have expanded significantly, and students can achieve great success with dedication and the power of their voice.
Lakshmi Shankar Bajpai, speaking on career prospects in radio, highlighted that any student can secure employment through talent and consistent practice. He encouraged students to recognize their strengths and refine their skills to excel in the field.
Dr. Vipin Gaur, as a special speaker, shared valuable insights on becoming a successful journalist. He stressed that in today’s dynamic media industry, only multi-talented individuals can thrive. He encouraged students to continuously enhance their skills to stay ahead in the competitive field.
The second session featured engaging activities such as radio podcasting and an RJ hunt competition, drawing participation from students across Delhi University. Contestants presented their talent on given topics, earning applause from the audience.
Prof. Rakesh Kumar, Director of Radio Tarang, shared that students produce programs on significant topics, including health, education, employment, literature, startups, cinema, and agriculture. From scripting and recording to editing, students manage every aspect of content creation. He also announced that Radio Tarang is accessible on all social media and audio streaming platforms.
A major highlight of the event was the launch of the Tarang 90.0 FM mobile app, further expanding the reach of the radio station. The winners of the competitions were felicitated with awards, recognizing their outstanding performances.
The celebration concluded with a vibrant dance performance by second-year students of the Hindi Journalism and Mass Communication department. The event was skillfully hosted by BJMC students Khushi Chauhan, Aryan, and Jaya.
Prominent attendees included Prof. Sanjay Sharma, Dr. Annie Ray, Dr. Pradeep Kumar, Dr. Atal Tiwari, Dr. Seema Bharti, Dr. Nisha Singh, and Radio Tarang’s transmission executive, Farzin Sultan. Their presence added to the grandeur of the occasion, making it a memorable and inspiring celebration for all participants.
