Unknown person booked for impersonation of Lokayukta official demanding money from govt officials to drop charges probe on

The Vidhana Soudha police have registered a case against an unknown person who posing as Lokayukta officer calling government officials randomly and threatening them with Disproportionate cases and demanding money to drop the charges .

Based on the complaint,the police have registered an FIR against unknown person charging him under section Sections 204 (personating a public servant),308 (extortion)and 319 (cheating by personation) under BNS for further investigation.

Few officials who received the calls and text messages approached Lokayukta office for cross check.According to the complaint filed by Lokayukta DySP,Basavaraj R Magadam,checked the number through Truecaller, which displayed the name ‘Lokayukta Dy SP’.

Further probe revealed the location to Shirol,a suburb in Mumbai,Maharashtra.

The police are probing further to track down the accused who suspected to be sitting in Mumbai targeting government officials in and around Bengaluru to extort money using the department .
