The centenary celebrations of the 1924 Congress Session chaired by Mahatma Gandhi will begin on December 26 and 27.
-The Chief Minister has instructed officials to plan meaningful programs under the theme Gandhi Bharata throughout the year.
-Key events in Belagavi include a Congress Working Committee meeting on December 26 and a public meeting on December 27.Major roads (32 km) and 30 circles in Belagavi city will be illuminated, similar to Mysuru Dasara festivities.
-The historic site of the Congress session, Veersoudha, will be developed with a library and Gandhi statue. A temporary Virupaksha Gopura will be constructed on the 2.1 km-long Congress Road, along with sculptures along the railway wall and other development works.
-At Kanabargi,Gangadhar Rao Deshpande’s statue will be installed, and a museum will be opened.In Hudali,the Gandhi Memorial and a photo gallery will be developed. Memorial pillars will be set up at 120 locations in Karnataka visited by Gandhi.
-A Kannada version of the iconic Gandhi movie by Attenborough will be produced.At Suvarna Vidhana Soudha,a photo gallery showcasing the Congress session and the freedom movement will be set up.
-Cultural programs will be held on December 26 for dignitaries and on December 27 for the public.A commemorative postal stamp will also be released.
– In schools,activities under Gandhi Bharata with the theme Navu Manujaru (We Are Humans) will be organized.Competitions will be held to promote Gandhi’s values among students.
Posters on Gandhi’s Seven Social Sins and the Preamble of the Constitution will be distributed in all schools
