“ Will Continue the Work for the Development of Backward classes:Basavaraj Bommai
Haveri (Shiggaon):Former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Basavaraj Bommai advised his son and BJP candidate in the by-election to Shiggaon Assembly constituency,Bharat Bommai to carry forward the developmental work for backward classes.
He urged senior leaders to guide Bharat Bommai, emphasizing that he must be a strong voice for backward classes in the Vidhan Soudha (Karnataka’s Legislative Assembly).
Addressing a meeting organized by the BJP’s District Backward Classes Morcha here on Thursday,he detailed the importance of elections, noting that each election brings its unique characteristics and new issues to light.
He criticized the current government’s handling of various situations, pointing out the lack of relief for farmers during last year’s drought and this year’s monsoon and post-monsoon damages.
He highlighted the dire situation of farmers and common people who lost their homes, while pointing out the government’s failure to provide sufficient relief.
Drawing a comparison,he mentioned that during their tenure, when massive floods destroyed thousands of homes, the then-leader BS.Yediyurappa decided to provide compensation of 5 lakh rupees for each completely destroyed house.
In contrast, the current government is providing only 90,000 rupees, which Bommai termed it as insufficient.
He accused the state government of not releasing the budgeted funds for backward classes and alleged that funds meant for Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes were diverted under the guise of guarantees.
The funds allocated for road development, borewell drilling, and agricultural activities in SC and ST communities were misused, allegedly for electoral purposes.
Expressing gratitude,he recalled how the then-Central Human Resource Development Minister contributed to the restoration of Kanakadasa’s palace.
He noted the development of various places, including the villages of Shishunala Sharif and Aluru Venkataraya during his tenure.
He remarked that the present government is engulfed in corruption and misuse of funds, drawing parallels to Valmiki Corporation’s alleged misappropriation of money.
Bommai stressed that social justice can only be achieved when all classes develop equally. He highlighted that farmers belong to no specific caste or religion and that there are farmers among Lingayats, Muslims, and Brahmins alike. He asserted the importance of treating everyone equally, without discrimination.
He emphasized the benefits of several schemes like Ganga Kalyan,self-employment programs, and the PM Kisan Samman Yojana.
He expressed hope that Bharat Bommai would continue to advocate for the backward classes and urged senior leaders to guide him.
He also noted the implementation of the Vishwakarma Yojana for 18 communities under the Prime Minister’s leadership.
Basavaraj Bommai concluded by affirming that victory in the upcoming election and development of backward classes is certain, promising to address their pending demands.
The event was attended by Haveri District President, Arun Kumar Pujar,Shiggaon BJP candidate,Bharat Bommai,D.S.Malagi,and several other leaders from backward communities.
