The Gauribidanur rural police on Wednesday arrested a gang of seven who had cheated a Andhra Pradesh based businessman offering to sell three kilograms of gold necklace and escaped with Rs. 24 lakh.
Based on the complaint,filed by Alluraiah,resident of Nandyala in Andhra Pradesh, the police track down the accused identified as Girish Rivalji,23,Ravi Kumar,28, Nandish Naik,22,Ramapuram Bramhaiah,39,Ahmed Hussain,47,Mahendra Naik, 26 and Iliyesh Sugaram, 26 and recovered Rs.23 lakh from them.
The accused are from Hakki pikki colony in Koratagere Tumakuru.The accused on Monday approached Alluraiah with a cooked up story and offered to sell three kilograms gold necklace with antique design for a price of Rs.24 lakh.
Excited by this Alluraiah took some time to arrange the money and came to Muthurayanaswamy temple in the outskirts of Gauribidanur with the cash to get the necklace .
The accused handover the necklace and asked him to check before fleeing the spot with the cash.
Realizing that he has been duped Alluraiah approached the police and filed a complaint.
Based on the complaint,the police track down the accused and recovered the cash from them.
The police are further verifying the criminal background of the accused to ascertain whether they have cheated other people with the similar trick.
Kushal Chowksey,Superintendent of Police, Chikkabalapur advised people not to fall for such tricks and inform the police control room if they come across such activities .
