Safe and Strong:Chennamma Squad conducts special classes and Creates Self-Defence Awareness and safety measures among Women and children

ince last one week the city police teams of Chennamma squad conducting special classes for the girls and children to create awareness about crime against women and children and safety measures .

The session majorly includes educating the children about good touch and bad touch “Do’s and Don’ts and also self defense techniques and law related to crime against women and children,V Sajeeth,DCP,Northeast division said media persons that the awareness program launched following the brutal murder 24-year-old Kruti Kumari,a private firm employee outside her room in her Paying Guest accomodation in Koramangala on the fateful night of July 23.

Even though there were girls inmates who came out to see the brutal attack and injured Kruthi crying out for help,the girls were scared and did not help,which could have saved the life of Kruti Kumari.

Realized that many children,girls and women in the community were unaware of personal boundaries and self-defense strategies,a dedicated team of well trained Chennamma squads have been roped in to conduct awareness classes at schools,colleges,hostels and Paying guest accommodation .

The program, titled “Safe and Strong,”was designed to be interactive and engaging.The workshops started with simple yet powerful lessons on understanding the differences between good touch and bad touch.

Through role-playing and storytelling,children learned to identify inappropriate behavior and understand that it’s okay to speak up and seek help.

One of the key components of the program was the “Circle of Trust” activity.Children were encouraged to draw a circle and list people they trust within it.

This visual representation helped them understand whom they could approach if they ever felt unsafe,a senior officer part of the program,said .

There was a self defense training session has also been taught to the girls students and working women to use in case of any eventualities.

This techniques is to part of the surprise attack and neutralize the opponent when the victims face danger and get enough time to escape to safety, DCP Southeast Sarah Fathima,said .

Through this program,the police are trying to build confidence level among the women and children but also making them more aware of their rights and duties.This is also to bridge the gap between them and the police to instill a sense of confidence.

Issues like,POCSO,child marriage and addiction and ill effect of sale and consumption of tobacco around the school and colleges have been imparted.They were also told that they have duties towards the society and help and support police to fight social evils.
