Grahanam has released Rs.10 lakh for Rs.204 crore works in five years
, hopes are on the coalition government

Kurnool, Sunnipenta Circle, Jalamandali, Newstoday: Vaikapa’s neglect is a curse for the Srisailam project. The works worth Rs.204 crore proposed for the management of the project have been watered down. Due to the negligence of the Vaikapa government, Rs. 204 crores have to be spent for the works that would have been completed if Rs. 130 crores were spent. As part of the ‘Drip’ scheme, the previous government did not respond even though there was a possibility that the state government would bear 30 percent of the total expenditure and the remaining 70 percent would be provided by the centre. Presently, the proposed works are not possible due to the release of water. A huge pit (plungepool) was formed at a depth of one hundred meters in front of the dam due to the rapid rise of the water flow from the spillway. The study on how to bury the pit has not started.

Other works are in progress…

As the apron in front of the dam gates was damaged, it was decided that the repairs would cost Rs.74 crores. It was concluded that the opposite right side of the dam was damaged and the steps and roads leading to the apron were also damaged. It has been concluded that Rs.87 crores will be spent on repairs and other works required for the protection of the dam. It has been decided that some of the hillside areas within the scope of the project have become very dangerous and ‘short cretting’ works should be done with Rs.9 crores. It is estimated that Rs.3 crores will be spent to make the technical systems available.

What about annual maintenance work?

Rs.40 lakhs to Rs.50 lakhs should be spent per year for project management works. Vaikapa government ignored them. Rs.4.80 crores has already been paid for the works done in connection with the project. Another Rs.4 crore worth of work should be undertaken urgently. Vaikapa released only Rs.10 lakhs in its five-year rule and threw up its hands. In this background, the situation of the project has become impossible. Everyone is waiting for the blessings that CM Chandrababu will shower on the Srisailam project on Thursday.
