n a special drive,the Bengaluru city police carried out surprised checked on the residence of rowdies and habitual offenders across the city as part of the precautionary measure ahead of the Lok Sabha elections.
The South Division police conducted the drive and as many as 234 houses were checked and questioned over 150 rowdies present at the time of the raids .
Some of the houses raided belonging to the rowdies who were presently lodged in the central prison.
Similarly the West Division police searched the residence of 326 rowdies and 231habitual offenders for any contraband and weapons .
Many of the accused were questioned and released after getting an undertaking that they would not be involved in any anti social activities during the elections.
Similar exercise was carried out by Central Division police where over 200 policemen covering 12 police stations carried out the search operation on 100 rowdies and habitual offenders and questioned them said Bengaluru city police commissioner.
Reports says some of the Rowdy-sheeter had gun licence weapons and a probe is ordered as how and whose behest they got the arms licence and the inspector who has issued and approved the arms licence a strict action will be taken as per law he added.
