The Channapatna rural police on Monday arrested a man who was posing as the brother of a minor girl, took her out of the hostel where she was residing on the pretext of having tea from a near by shop and molested her.
The victim was residing in a hostel and persuing her high school studies while the accused was local resident.
The incident came to light when the hostel staff suspected that the duo did not return even after two hours,alerted the police and set out for the search before alerting the police.
After a hour long search the staff caught the duo in a mango groove and handed over to the police.
Probe revealed that the accused befriended the victim and sexually exploiting her for the last one year .
This incident also exposed lack of security checks at the hostels especially women hostels .
The police advised the staff to be more careful in future and further investigating.
